Do you feel like you want to do something more significant in life, but just can’t seem to step out to try? Are you concerned you might look back one day and have regrets because you didn’t believe God could use you? Maybe you know you were born for more, but aren’t sure what it is. Or perhaps you have some clues to what God wants you to do, but you’re telling yourself there’s no way you could do it.

When you are held back by doubt or fear, pursuing your purpose helps you to get clear and to start moving forward with more confidence. But confidence is not always automatic. It comes from your trust in God–trusting who He is and who He made you to be. But it also is born out of action. But confusion can come because you need to take action to build confidence, yet need to build confidence to take action.

There is a trait that you must develop in order to build confidence and take action. In my video I share what grows in your character when you are actively on the path of pursuing your purpose and the impact it has on your life.

God Wants You to Be Courageous in Pursuing Your Purpose

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged; for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” ~Joshua 1:9 NIV

God made you with a specific purpose in mind and the perfect design as a person to equip you to carry out that calling. Though you may not be fully convinced of your ability, it is there, but can be hidden from you if you shrink back in doubt vs move forward in faith. He is with you in whatever you do, wherever you go.

From the early stages of trying to uncover your calling to the later stagers of fulfilling it, God will give you direction. And if you ask Him to help you to fully trust Him, you will begin to grow in courage to move in that direction.

You will develop courage based not just on believing in God, but also on truly believing God in what He says about you and how He will walk with you as you’re pursuing your purpose. The thoughts based in fear that have held you back can be actively taken captive so you can renew your mind to boldly step out into your calling.

The key is being intentional to combine walking more closely with the Lord along with taking the next small, doable step in faith to gain confidence in God’s guidance, faithfulness and provision, while better understanding your unique design.

Christian Life Coaching Reflections:

  1. What next step in your life do you sense God asking you to take?
  2. Where do you lack clarity? What doubts or fears do you have around taking this step?
  3. What would it look like and feel like to courageously step out?
